Our Vision for London

10th April 2026
As you may be aware, we recently published the results of our proof-of-concept analysis. However, numbers and charts do not properly convey how Congestless could impact the lives of everyday Londoners. In this blog post, we will explore how Congestless could form the basis of a better London for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and public transport users, not to mention the local economy.
A better London for motorists
The results of the above-mentioned analysis suggest that, during the AM peak in the Congestion Charge zone, Congestless could reduce motorists’ average journey times by over 10%. This would not only benefit motorists in terms of less time wasted in traffic, but it could also render the current £18/day Congestion Charge unnecessary. We acknowledge that a 10% reduction in journey times would not be sufficient to replace the Congestion Charge entirely, but there is certainly an argument to be made that users of Congestless should be entitled to a discount.
Also, we believe that using Congestless should be as straightforward as possible, so we envisage it operating as a free-of-charge API rather than a standalone app. This would mean that existing navigation providers could send API requests containing users’ origins and destinations, and we could then return a list of coordinates through which the Congestless route passes. Therefore, motorists would be able to follow our routes while still using the apps, sat navs, etc. they are accustomed to, and we would be complementing existing navigation solutions rather than taking demand away from them.
A better London for cyclists
In an ideal world, motorists and cyclists would never come into conflict with one another. However, urban planners have the unenviable task of balancing the needs of all road users – for example, a new cycle lane or bike phase may come at the expense of delays to motorists. The time-saving benefits of Congestless give urban planners additional flexibility in this regard, as new cycling infrastructure could be introduced, yet motorists’ journey times would remain at, or below, their current level.
This also has the potential to cause a domino effect, as these improvements may lead to some motorists switching from cars to bikes, which would further reduce congestion and journey times, thereby allowing even more improvements to cycling infrastructure, and so on…
A better London for pedestrians
Congestless would benefit pedestrians in much the same way as cyclists. For example, new pedestrian crossings, pedestrianised areas, low traffic neighbourhoods, etc. could be introduced while keeping motorists’ journey times at, or below, their current level.
A better London for public transport users
It is quite clear that buses would benefit from less congested roads and, as with cycling infrastructure, the time-saving benefits of Congestless could also mean that new bus lanes would be feasible. Faster buses should result in reduced operating costs (on a per-mile basis), which could lead to reduced ticket prices and improved commercial viability of new routes. All of these factors combined should increase demand for bus use.
Also, it is important to note that congestion in London is not limited to the roads, and the benefits that Congestless generates for road-based transport options – whether that be cars, bikes, or buses – should reduce the strain on the Tube and rail network.
A better London for commerce
In our previous blog post, we estimated that Congestless’s time-saving benefits alone could be worth in excess of a whopping £20 million per year! And this is before considering the impact that a Congestion Charge discount, pedestrianisation, etc. could have on local commerce.
Let’s turn this vision into reality!
We believe that Congestless has the potential to improve the lives of millions around the world. However, this is not something that will happen overnight, so we are on the lookout for others who would like to join us on this journey. If you share our vision and believe you can help in any way, no matter how big or small – whether as an investor, co-founder, pilot partner, or otherwise – we would love to hear from you!
